Civil Rights Act of 1957
The civil rights act of 1957 was enacted on September 9, 1957. It was created to ensure that all Americans could exercise their right to vote. By 1957 only about 20% percent of African Americans were registered to vote. After this act many more African Americans registered to vote. President Eisenhower signed this into law.
