Memphis Sanitation Strike
The Memphis sanitation strike occurred on February 11, 1968 when about 1,000 African American workers refused to show up to work. They demanded higher pay and better working conditions. The strike ended on April 16, 1968 when they were given higher pay and better woking conditions. They were also recognized as a union.
