Greensboro Sit-Ins
The Greensboro sit-ins was a series of non violent protests. This took place at Woolworth's Store in Greensboro, North Carolina. It started when four African American college students came in and sat down and ordered coffee. The workers refused to serve them and asked them to leave, and the next day they came back with 20 people the next day. They then came back with more and more. This drew national attention. The company had lost as much as 200,000 dollars in these sit-in. On July 25, 1960 they integrated the store. This was a great win for African Americans and inspired others to do this. The original four that started this was Joseph McNeil, Franklin McCain, Ezell Blair Jr., and David Richmond.
