Jackie Robinson and Baseball
In 1947 a young African American, Jackie Robinson, integrated into the MLB. Robinson had played in the negro league, but was then integrated into the MLB playing for the Dodgers. This attracted many black fans to see the Dodgers play. There was still some racial tension though. Some of his team mates would want to play with him or sit next to him. Some teams threatened to attack him if he played. Integration was slowly starting to form even in baseball like it had in schools. Blacks were very happy to hear and see that a black man was playing in a white baseball league. It made African Americans want to push for more racial equality.
